Halloween can take on a different name for a Photoshop Guru. I was thinking of photoshopping a wig on a Facebook profile picture to join in on the fun of having a different identity for a few days as October closes. I then thought, well maybe I'll put my head into a different identity. I had dressed up as Marilyn Monroe in the past, and thought to Photoshop myself as Jackie Kennedy. Then I considered to put my head into Breakfast at Tiffany's Audrey Hepburn. Then I considered Nancy Sinatra...but I think that's just because "These Boots Are Made for Walking" came on in iTunes. I then thought what I really wish I could dress up as. And before you knew it, starring in my favorite photographer, Annie Leibovitz's, Disney Dream Portrait was just the ticket. Have you seen these over the top, whimsical, star-studded ads? They all have that picturesque, captivating and illustrative touch that only Annie can do. Her Beauty and the Beast masterpiece touched a heart string, it being my favorite Disney then and now, and I went to work.
Perfectly casted with Jeff Bridges & Penelope Cruz: (but I'll take a go at it)
This photo, that was taken a year ago, was what I selected to be composited; based on the angle, lighting, and expression. A picture of me looking right at the camera would have taken me right out of the scene I was trying to naturally place myself in.
Then the work started. Cutting, masking, channel mixing, a bit of painting, and it really started to come to life!
And after 2 hours of fine tuning...(let's just let it run off the page shall we)
EDITOR'S NOTE: No costume shops or thrift stores, and I got the dress, the prince, and the scene! What do you think? I take on "Photoshopping Halloween" as an annual thing?
